A scandal is raging at the state-owned Ukroboronprom. Acting Director of the Mykolaiv Armored Plant, Oleksandr Shvets, may be dismissed after financial irregularities were discovered at the plant. This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism, citing its own sources within the state-owned concern.
According to journalists, the final straw for Ukroboronprom's management was a powerful PR campaign launched by Shvets in his own defense in local and national media. Following this, at a staff meeting, a vote of no confidence was expressed in the commission from the state-owned concern Ukroboronprom that had visited the plant to investigate the situation.
One of the volunteers, David Arakhamia, noted on his Facebook page that the director of the Nikolaev Armored Vehicle Plant, Alexander Shvets, is indeed going to be fired, although the order has not yet been signed. Arakhamia also promised to publish documents confirming financial abuses by CEO Shvets.
The volunteer stated that this dismissal is a serious step towards ridding Ukroboronprom of corrupt officials.
Journalists from the Center for Investigative Journalism attempted to contact Alexander Shvets for comment, but his phone was disconnected.
