Yuriy Kodzhebash, prosecutor of the Kotiv Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office and a prominent figure in several scandals, has been reinstated. Furthermore, the state is owed him 30 hryvnias in compensation, according to 368.media, citing a source in the regional prosecutor's office.
It is known that Yuriy Kodzhebash, while working in the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa, ruined the case against the murderer of Viktor Dyakov. At that time, the former police officer physically injured a patron outside the Morgan nightclub, who died shortly afterward. Furthermore, activists accuse Yuriy Kodzhebash of accepting bribes to close and reopen various criminal cases.
Under public pressure, Yuriy Kodzhebash was dismissed from the prosecutor's office in late 2015 for the official reason of being reorganized within the agency. Those wishing to join the newly reformed prosecutor's office were required to undergo testing, ordered by then-Odesa Oblast Prosecutor David Sakvarelidze. Yuriy Kodzhebash, for his part, refused to participate in the testing and filed a lawsuit demanding his reinstatement.
Judge Oksana Tarasishina ruled that Yuriy Kodzhebash's dismissal was unlawful. The court ordered his reinstatement. The court also ordered him to be paid 30 hryvnias for the period of forced absence from work.
