Yarema's controversial deputy has asked to be suspended from office for now.

Deputy Prosecutor General Anatoly Danilenko has requested to be suspended from his duties pending an investigation into threats against journalists.

Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema announced this at a press conference on Tuesday.
"At the president's direction, a judicial investigation has been ordered, involving SBU officers who will conduct an objective investigation and provide a comprehensive response regarding the events (regarding Danilenko – ed.)," Yarema said.
"Danilenko contacted me with a statement because he does not want to attend work and expressed a desire to be suspended from his duties pending an internal investigation," Yarema added.
He also reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs was investigating threats against journalists who were investigating the Danilenko family's seizure of 140 hectares of water bodies near the villages of Khlepcha and Soltanivka in the Vasylkiv district of the Kyiv region from state ownership through the Soltanivka-Cascade company. The report also covered Mr. Danilenko's estate in the village of Khlepcha.
"I am convinced that it is technically possible in this case to identify the person who made the threat, if he did make a threat," Yarema said.
He added that the Prosecutor General's Office will use the data provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"But I am convinced that you can work openly with every prosecutor's office employee, except in cases where it concerns investigative confidentiality," Yarema said.
At the same time, Yarema believes that a special operation to discredit the Prosecutor General's Office is being conducted.
"For some reason, a large number of publications about Danilenko, Bagants, myself, and my family have suddenly appeared. Therefore, I concluded that a general operation to discredit the Prosecutor General's Office is underway," he said.
