The large gas production holding Burisma, owned by former Minister of Ecology Mykola Zlochevsky (Read more: Why does the devil wear Prada and Zlochevsky wears Zlocci?), is not falling out of the law enforcement community's sights. The previously lifted seizures on some wells belonging to the First Gas and Oil Company (12 wells), Esko-Pivnich (2 wells), and Sistemoylingenering (1 well) were reinstated at the request of the head of the Prosecutor General's Office's Department for the Investigation of Criminal Proceedings in the Economic Sector.
Dmitry Sus (Read more: A three-letter prosecutor for special assignments: What made Supervisor Sus from the GPU's pocket department of "overseer" Granovsky famous?), who is overseeing the case, claims that officials of Burisma group companies evaded taxes totaling 180 million hryvnias between 2013 and 2014. He also believes that the Pechersky Court (Kyiv) should have imposed the seizure again, as the investigation is ongoing and new criminal details are regularly uncovered.
Yuriy Lutsenko previously outlined the specific claims against the holding company: "The company Esko-Pivnich, founded by the British company Burisma, used a number of fictitious entities to siphon off its profits and thereby evade corporate taxes." The total damage caused to the state is estimated at one billion hryvnias. Furthermore, it is emphasized that the remaining Burisma shareholders are completely uninvolved in this case and that law enforcement has no claims against them.
