Information has surfaced on social media that parcels from one of Ukraine's carriers, Mist Express, are being temporarily stored in a morgue.
These packages are placed and then shipped to residents of the capital. Photographs of cars with the company logo parked near the morgue are provided as evidence.
The Lviv-based transport company itself has declined to comment on this information. However, they promised to provide a written explanation.
This news was quickly picked up by social media users and is currently being actively discussed.
A former Mist Express employee, Andriy from Kyiv, writes: "I worked for Mist Express as a driver for quite a while. One day, I got into a conversation with the guys driving vans without the company logo. I learned they were their own vehicles. You're not officially employed, but working in your own car is twice as profitable as working full-time. They put me in touch with the guy who handles all this, who has a contract with the company, and I started delivering packages in my own Peugeot. I'd heard something about a morgue, but I'd never picked up packages from there myself. But it seems quite plausible—if it's more profitable, why not do it? I'm not sure if management knows about this, but at the level of the people directly involved in organizing deliveries, they could very well have pulled this off to make a few extra bucks."
It has emerged that carriers were forced to store parcels in such an "unusual" location due to high rental costs for warehouses in the central part of the capital (the company's official warehouses are located on the outskirts of the city – in Obolon, Borshahivka, and Troyeshchyna). According to the author of the report, the morgue warehouse was set up by "smart" entrepreneurs to save time and fuel.
