According to Yarema, the Prosecutor General's Office has evidence that low-quality coal was imported from South Africa.
Ukrinterenergo Director Valentin Rybachuk, who signed the contract for the 5th and 6th ships carrying coal from South Africa, was summoned for questioning by the Prosecutor General's Office.
A source told Ekonomicheskaya Pravda about this.
As reported, Ukraine and Steelmont signed a contract for the delivery of six ships loaded with coal from South Africa. After receiving three of them, it became clear that the coal "does not burn in Ukrainian thermal power plants." This was stated, in particular, by Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema.
According to him, the Prosecutor General's Office has evidence that coal from South Africa is of poor quality and does not meet the standards used at the Zmievskaya, Tripolskaya, and Starobeshevskaya thermal power plants, which are part of Centrenergo.
In connection with this, officials of the state-owned company Centrenergo were charged with embezzlement of state funds on an especially large scale.
Kyiv's Pechersky District Court has set bail for Ukrinterenergo Director Volodymyr Zinevich. The day before, Zinevich was forcibly brought to court, where he was remanded in custody for two months.
At the same time, the court set bail at 365 million hryvnia.
