Viktor Polishchuk, the owner of Eldorado stores, the bankrupt Mykhailivsky Bank, and the Gulliver office center, has fled Ukraine. Kyiv Deputy Prosecutor Pavlo Kononenko announced this.
During a Rada committee meeting, Kononenko noted that Mr. Polishchuk is hiding from the investigation outside of Ukraine. However, his department has not given up hope of bringing Polishchuk to justice.
As a reminder, Polishchuk is accused of bankrupting Mykhailivskyi Bank. As of 2015, the businessman ranked 67th in the ranking of the 100 richest people in Ukraine. He owned the Gulliver office center, the largest in the country. Polishchuk's stake in Mykhailivskyi Bank was 92,5%. Viktor Polishchuk was described as "very close" to President Petro Poroshenko. However, Polishchuk's position in power has recently weakened, forcing him to leave Ukraine.
Several top managers of the financial institution have already been arrested in connection with the bankruptcy case of Mikhailovsky Bank.
