Internet users are puzzled as to why NABU officers need an armored personnel carrier. Photos of an armored vehicle during the NABU swearing-in ceremony appeared online on February 9, 2016.
Blogger Anton Khodza wrote on his Facebook page:
"What about this wonder weapon? Is it meant to make corrupt officials freak out just by looking at it?"
Journalist Elena Yakhno is perplexed:
"Okay, 300 hryvnia socks for special forces. But why do they need an armored personnel carrier?"
Some users joked:
"To shoot back at Igor Kononenko, maybe we need to break down a fence to get into the MP's territory?"
Facebook users noted that NABU Director Artem Sytnyk now needs to purchase a lunar rover to fend off unwanted questions from journalists.
As a reminder, media outlets previously reported that the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau) special forces unit would consist of 96 personnel. It was also announced that NABU would purchase armored vehicles.
