The Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of August 6, 2014, which upheld the claim for the protection of the honor and dignity of former Minister of Revenue and Duties Oleksandr Klymenko.

The former minister filed a lawsuit in connection with the fact that on May 3, the SBU accused him of preparing provocations in Odessa.

Later, on July 11, the Prosecutor General's Office (GPU) website reported that the agency was investigating the involvement of Oleksandr Klymenko and his Green Bank in financing terrorism and separatism in eastern Ukraine. At the time, the former minister denied this information, stating that he had no connection to Green Bank and had never heard of such a financial institution before. He would defend himself against these accusations by all means necessary.

"The lawsuit has every chance of being won, both in the first instance court and at higher levels," the former minister's lawyers said.

Let us recall that on February 27, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Klymenko from his post as minister, and it was decided to liquidate the department he headed.

At the end of February 2014, Oleksandr Klymenko and his family left Ukraine. His whereabouts are unknown.

On April 29, a criminal case was opened against Klimenko under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On May 31, 2014, the SBU placed Klymenko on the wanted list. It was established that Klymenko had abused his official position in collusion with other officials from the Ministry of Revenue and Duties. During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that during 2012-2013, the former minister organized a tax evasion scheme for enterprises in the real sector of the economy.

In particular, he and his "colleagues" at the border in the Odessa, Kyiv, Donetsk, and Kharkiv regions opened companies whose purpose was to provide customs clearance services for goods in Ukraine at significantly reduced customs value.

As a result of the illegal activities of certain enterprises and Klymenko himself, the Ukrainian budget suffered damages amounting to more than 6 billion hryvnias.
