Kyiv's Obolonsky District Court has closed the criminal case against 34-year-old Vladislav Grechanov, a native of the Dnipropetrovsk region, who was accused of committing negligent homicide (Part 1, Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) more than five years ago against Kyiv resident Yuriy Minchuk on the terrace at the entrance to a McDonald's restaurant. This information was published on the "Judicial Authority" portal and confirmed by a post on the Facebook page of lawyer Oleh Veremienko, writes Detective.
It follows from them: the decision to close the proceedings on November 21, 2022, on the basis of paragraph 1, part 2, article 284 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, was made by the servant of Themis Lyudmila Shestakovskaya.

The judge argued in her verdict that the incident with which Grechanov was charged was a minor crime, with a maximum sentence of five years. The defendant's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the case, and the prosecutor stated at the hearing, "there are no alternative solutions yet other than granting the defense attorney's motion».
As a reminder, the controversial incident near a McDonald's in Kyiv's Obolon district, where two young men clashed over smoking in public, occurred in late April 2017. Grechanov allegedly reprimanded Minchuk, who was smoking on the premises, and then punched him in the head, killing him instantly.
It was later determined that Minchuk's death (according to one version, 2,28 ppm alcohol was found in his blood) was caused by ruptured blood vessels followed by a subclavian hemorrhage. Grechanov (who left the scene of the conflict and surrendered to law enforcement two weeks later) was officially charged in May 2017 and placed under overnight house arrest.
According to court records, the case against Vladislav Grechanov was sent to Kyiv's Obolonsky District Court at the end of 2017, where its merits were heard for over four years.
