The Kyiv Commercial Court has prohibited the NBU and the Deposit Guarantee Fund from liquidating PJSC Ukrgazprombank. This was reported by the UP website, citing the court ruling.
This lawsuit was filed against the National Bank and the Deposit Guarantee Fund by Primestar Energy FZE, which bought 100% of the shares of the troubled bank Ukrgazprombank on August 7, 2015.
In its lawsuit, the financial institution's new owner alleged that during the trial, the National Bank and the Deposit Guarantee Fund would decide to liquidate Ukrgazprombank, making it impossible to restore the plaintiff's interests and rights. The Kyiv Commercial Court sided with the plaintiff and injunctiond the liquidation of the financial institution.
As a reminder, the National Bank classified Ukrgazprombank as insolvent in April 2015. On September 14, 2015, the NBU decided to liquidate the troubled Ukrgazprombank.
