Are supermarkets poisoning customers with impunity?

business-plan-produktovogo-magazina-03The public organization "Fund.101" discovered that supermarkets are selling expired products. Silpo, Fora, and ATB were the top sellers of stale products. However, other stores also made the list of unscrupulous ones, including EkoMarket, Auchan, BILLA, Velyka Kyshenya, Lotok, Furshet, and Novus.

Activists also claim that dairy products, cheese, fish, cakes, and cookies are most often sold after their expiration dates.

The sellers themselves admit that dates on cookies and cakes "refresh" them, and dead fish from aquariums are given a marketable appearance and displayed on display.

The consumer protection service previously responsible for consumer rights is currently being reorganized and is therefore effectively unable to fully perform its functions.

The only way to stop this dangerous trend is to file a lawsuit. However, this tradition is underdeveloped in the post-Soviet space.

"It's possible to punish a store, but there must be significant consequences. You absolutely must go to the hospital, collect receipts for your medications, and prove the store's involvement in your poisoning. But, unfortunately, in our society, punishing an irresponsible seller is not a popular choice. Of course, legal services are not cheap, and moral damages of 3-4 hryvnias won't have much of an impact on the store's finances," lawyer Roman Chumak commented to the media.
