The lawyer for the son of former Prime Minister Azarov attempted to lift the seizure of his property in Italy through the courts. However, the Pechersky District Court of Moscow denied the lawyer's claim.
Azarov Jr.'s lawyer attempted to lift the seizure of two houses in the city of Olbia, arguing that the estates had been transferred to another individual on February 22, 2014, before the change of power in Ukraine.
According to the documents provided, Oleksiy Azarov donated this property to Kostiantyn Pivovarov on February 22, 2014. The son of the former Ukrainian Prime Minister also transferred his rights to the Austrian company "Garda Handels – und-beteiligungs Gmbh" to this individual.
The court ruled that the claim to lift the seizure of the property must be filed by the property's direct owner, Konstantin Pivovarov, and denied Azarov's lawyer's claim.
As a reminder, the seizure of this property was ordered following the initiation of a criminal investigation against former MP Oleksiy Azarov on charges of illicit enrichment. The investigation established that Azarov Jr. received half a million US dollars, €7,70 million, and 600 Swiss francs from unidentified sources. These funds were deposited in banks in Italy, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.
