TAScombank, owned by Serhiy Tigipko, has submitted a statement to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expressing its intention to qualify for the NBU's approval to participate in the liquidation of bankrupt banks. This was reported by TAScombank's press service.
Iryna Starominska, Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board of Tigipko Bank, announced that the financial institution she manages wishes to participate in the removal of bankrupt banks from the Ukrainian market. Currently, there are two ways to remove bankrupt banks from the market. The first is to create a transition bank, transferring the insolvent bank's liabilities and assets to it. The second is to sell the insolvent financial institution to an investor as a whole. TAScombank wishes to obtain qualifications for both of these methods.
As a reminder, the NBU previously included Tigipko Bank in the list of institutions that can qualify to act as a receiving bank for the removal of insolvent banks from the market.
In 2015, TAScombank reduced its profits by almost 10 times to 1 million hryvnia.
