The Inter TV channel is once again in the spotlight—a pre-trial investigation is underway. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs' press service on May 25.

It is known that the Main Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URDR) regarding the commission of criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) and Part 1 of Article 171 (obstruction of the lawful professional activities of journalists) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

It is reported that in 1997 and 1999, certain officials of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, abusing their official positions, transferred 20% of the shares of the Inter television channel to private ownership. As a result, the state lost over $800 million.

It is also reported that throughout 2010-2011, the founders of the Inter TV channel influenced the information policy of the channel's journalists. This means that the information the Inter channel provided to viewers was false or incomplete.

Let us recall that 100% of the Inter TV channel's shares are owned by the company of Dmitry Firtash and Sergey Levochkin.
