Tymoshenko is concerned about the fate of Energoatom.
Yulia Tymoshenko: The privatization of Energoatom will destroy Ukraine's energy independence, according to the official website. BYuT
Members of parliament from the Batkivshchyna party will insist on the removal of bill No. 7650-U, which provides for the privatization of Energoatom, from consideration in the Verkhovna Rada.
As reported by the press service of Batkivshchyna, the corresponding statement was made by the leader of the political force, People's Deputy Yulia Tymoshenko in her video blog “What's going on in the Rada?».
According to her, this is due to the fact that the adoption of this bill will threaten Ukraine's energy independence and sovereignty.
«We're third in Europe in terms of nuclear power generation. Third! Do you understand the scale? 50% of our electricity comes from nuclear power plants. This isn't just our national treasure. It's something that, if managed properly, could provide our entrepreneurs with a huge advantage, making our producers and industry competitive, and our people solvent."," Tymoshenko emphasized.
She explained that Energoatom currently sells nuclear electricity for 57 kopecks per kilowatt, while "individuals are charged 1,68 hryvnias per kilowatt, and industry is charged 5-6 hryvnias per kilowatt." The difference, she said, goes to intermediaries.
«It's not enough for them to take the cheapest electricity and sell it at exorbitant prices to domestic consumers and businesses. They've now decided to pass a law and essentially begin stealing the entire nuclear power generation system, that is, Energoatom. Then they'll sell nuclear electricity not within Ukraine, but export it. Revenues will be significantly higher there, and hundreds of billions of hryvnias will end up in the pockets of intermediaries.».
Tymoshenko is so concerned about the fate of the state-owned enterprise that during the Conciliation Council, her team will demand that bill No. 7650-U be withdrawn from consideration, and she called on concerned Ukrainians to monitor the events surrounding Energoatom.
«Global corporations are behind these anti-Ukrainian actions to privatize Energoatom, demanding that the government do so. Thus, a creeping colonization of Ukraine is underway, and, unfortunately, government officials are following suit. We'll see how parliament reacts."," the people's deputy concluded.
