MP Kostyantyn Zhevago's Finance and Credit Bank must pay the Agrarian Exchange 32,5 million hryvnias. This ruling was issued by the Kyiv Commercial Court of Appeal, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
The Agrarian Exchange reportedly initially sought to recover UAH 6,457 million from Finance and Credit Bank. However, the Kyiv Commercial Court later received a petition from the plaintiff to increase the claim by UAH 26,5 million. The Agrarian Exchange based its claim on the bank's improper performance of its obligations under the cash services agreement.
The court of first instance upheld the Agrarian Exchange's claim and seized the funds pending resolution of the dispute. Zhevago's bank disagreed with the court's decision and filed an appeal. The court of second instance found no grounds to overturn the Kyiv Commercial Court's ruling and ordered Finance and Credit Bank to pay the exchange 32,5 million hryvnias.
Finance and Credit Bank, whose shareholder is Ukrainian MP Kostyantyn Zhevago, was founded in 1990. As of July 1, 2015, the financial institution ranked 10th in terms of assets (38,88 billion hryvnias) among 127 operating Ukrainian banks.
