International human rights organizations Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, which investigate disappearances in Donbas, have published materials revealing the existence of secret SBU prisons in Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Mariupol, and Izyum. The publication reports RBC-Ukraine.
According to human rights organizations, these prisons house people who have been missing for a long time by their relatives.
The organizations' report states that as of June 2016, they had received compelling evidence from multiple sources that 16 people remain in secret detention in the Kharkiv SBU alone.
Human rights activists also noted that Ukrainian authorities deny using any other pretrial detention facilities other than official ones.
