During a search in the office of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov (Read more about it: Arsen Avakov: The criminal past of the Minister of Internal Affairs) Sergei Chebotar Gold bars, incriminating documents, and jewelry were discovered, BPP MP Sergei Kaplin wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the MP, a search of Chebotar's home uncovered documents confirming corruption schemes within law enforcement agencies, regional departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the central office. Gold bars and jewelry were found in his office and seized.
As the MP noted, "Mr. Chebotar, in terms of his corrupt actions, surpasses all the Pshenkas, Zakharchenkos, and Klymenkas." He also called on investigative bodies to provide a public report on what was found in Deputy Interior Minister Avakov's office.
As is well known, Serhiy Chebotar holds the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Chief of Staff and is godfather to National Security and Defense Council Chairman Turchynov. There are numerous media reports suggesting Chebotar is involved in corrupt activities. In 2010, on the eve of the presidential election, he was implicated in the hostile takeover of the Ukraina Printing Plant. There are also reports that Serhiy Chebotar is Avakov and Turchynov's cashier, collects "tribute" from regional and district police departments, and "decides" on numerous personnel matters in the regions.
