Ukrainian citizens spend more on housing and utilities than Europeans.
Journalists analyzed total expenses and found that the average European spends 11,6% of their total expenses on utilities. Specifically, Germans spend 14,8% of their total expenses, Americans 6,9%, Australians 8,1%, and French residents 11,7%. The same figure for Ukraine is 16,4%. However, after the July price hike, this share of Ukrainian citizens' total expenses will increase to 18-19%.
Journalists also write that, according to "false statistics by Valtsmanat," the average nominal salary in Ukraine in May 2016 was 4,984 hryvnias. This translates to approximately $200 in U.S. dollars. In Germany and France, the average salary is $2,4. In the U.S., it's $4.
