Ukrainian lawyer pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shariy, suspected of treason Valentin Rybin has been disbarred from practicing law. According to the Watchers portal, the Ternopil Oblast Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar Association made this decision on September 2. ZN.UA.

Andrey Fortunenko filed a complaint against Valentin Rybin on May 24, 2022.

The reason for the case was Rybin's Facebook post on March 19, 2022, which, according to the appellant, contained Nazi connotations and a negative attitude toward Ukrainian women whose men had gone to the front to defend Ukraine from the aggressor. Fortunenko claimed that Rybin had committed a number of violations, specifically, ignoring the norms of legal ethics, as his words violated the principles of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stated that "Rybin is hostile to Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression as such.».

During the investigation, the commission members concluded that Rybin's statements were indeed hostile, offensive, and intolerant, and violated the constitutional foundations of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the lawyer's oath and the rules of legal ethics.

The commission also agreed that Valentin Rybin, with his messages, had infringed on the recognition of Ukraine as a sovereign, independent, democratic, social, and legal state.

"Bring disciplinary action against attorney Valentin Vladimirovich Rybin for committing a disciplinary offense, qualified as a violation of the attorney's oath and a single gross violation of the Rules of Attorney Ethics, undermining the authority of the Ukrainian Bar, and impose a disciplinary sanction on him in the form of deprivation of the right to practice law," the commission's final decision states.

Neither the accused, Valentin Rybin, nor the complainant himself were present in the courtroom during the appeal hearing. Rybin, disbarred as a father of three, had left Ukraine for Spain in late March. And on April 1, Valentin Rybin was notified of suspicion of manufacturing and distributing communist and Nazi symbols and promoting communist and National Socialist totalitarian propaganda (Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Valentin Rybin's clients include not only pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shariy, whose party the lawyer even ran for the Verkhovna Rada. Specifically, he defended Maidan defendants in court, including former head of the Kyiv SBU Oleksandr Shchegolev and the "titushkovod" Yuriy Krysin.

In 2020, Rybin announced the creation of the Berkut public organization to provide legal assistance to former members of the group. He also served as the lawyer for Raphael Lusvarghi, who fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas in 2014-2015.
