The SBU counterintelligence service blocked an attempt by the heads of the liquidation commission of a Ukrainian enterprise to sell aircraft and spare parts to Russia.

According to a report from the SBU press center, the scheme to sell six An-2 aircraft and 19 Mi-2 helicopters was developed by officials of a Kyiv-based state-owned aviation enterprise. This enterprise is in the process of liquidation. It also holds aircraft engines and other valuable equipment. The market value of this aircraft is tens of millions of hryvnias. According to an assessment, after repair and modernization, this equipment could be used in the ATO zone.

As the SBU established, throughout 2014, the company's liquidation committee repeatedly attempted to write off the entire fleet for scrap metal. The perpetrators planned to carry out this procedure only on paper and then sell the aircraft to Rostov-Mil and Rosvertol (Rostov-on-Don, Russia). The proceeds from the sale would be divided among the parties involved.

In addition, the criminals have already prepared documents for the write-off and sale of aircraft, vehicles, and aircraft engines at a residual value of 1,7 million UAH.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The case is being heard by the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv.
