Will Ukrnafta sue Inter TV channel?

InterAccording to several Ukrainian business publications, Ukrnafta has filed a lawsuit against the Inter TV channel in the Kyiv Commercial Court. Ukrnafta's claims against the channel are currently unknown, but some experts believe the company intends to litigate against information broadcast on Inter last October.

Last year, the Inter TV channel aired a report in which journalists accused Ukrnafta of operating extremely inefficiently. The report also alleged that large sums of money had been siphoned off from the Ukrainian company, and that oil production in Ukraine was completely under the control of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky's Privat Group.

As a reminder, on New Year's Eve, the Inter TV channel broadcast Russian New Year's programs featuring individuals who actively support the annexation of Crimea and Russia's war against Ukraine. The expert commission on film distribution and exhibition recommended revoking Inter's broadcast license. The Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Information also commented on this decision. Bankova Street stated that Inter's media managers will be held publicly accountable for their actions, and the Ministry will initiate legislative changes to prevent similar incidents. National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov stated that Inter should be stripped of its broadcast license.

Later, the management of the Inter TV channel made an official statement, according to which they consider all accusations made against the channel on January 01, 2015, in the Ukrainian media to be pressure on the channel.
