Ukroboronprom's management officially unveiled a new product on its official website: the new BTS-5B multipurpose tractor, which is manufactured at the Lviv Armored Plant. Deputy General Director of Ukroboronprom, Yuriy Pashchenko, reported that Ukroboronprom engineers have developed new military equipment that will be very useful for troops in the ATO zone, as the new BTS-5B combines the functions of several military vehicles.
The official noted that the new vehicle is designed to evacuate damaged tanks from combat zones and tow stuck or sunken armored vehicles. Furthermore, the tractor can be used for mechanical reconnaissance on the battlefield. According to Pashchenko, the Ukrainian BTS-5B is capable of welding and repairing armored vehicles, lifting cargo, and digging.
However, as military equipment experts have noted, this "new" military tractor is simply a modernized BREM-1 tractor, which was adopted by many Soviet republics, including the Ukrainian SSR, back in 1975. This is evidenced by the older engine and the T-72A tank chassis. According to experts, these tractors have been modernized for several decades by the Kyiv Armored Plant from the old BREM-1 military vehicle. And the fake news from Ukroboronprom is "a scam for taxpayers who contribute their hard-earned money to the country's budget."
