On July 13th, a congress of the new UKROP party was held. The "ukroptsy" interpret their name as "Ukrainian Union of Patriots." And they immediately found themselves embroiled in a scandal. It turned out that the newly formed party's logo was stolen. It was created by artist Andriy Yermoolenko, and he had no intention of handing it over to any party. However, a peaceful settlement was reached with the artist. Apparently, the habit of stealing is simply ineradicable among these newly minted "patriots." Their biographies scream about it, rather than talk about it. And theft, in these biographies, is by no means the most serious crime.
So, the political council of the party, clearly created for the local elections, included such "prominent" figures from the Dnipropetrovsk region as the former deputy governor of the region, Borys Filatov, and the former governor of Odesa, Ihor Palytsia . Another patriot, Gennady Korban, took over the party's leadership. The party's board was elected unanimously, which no one doubted. Let's talk first about the "members," and then about the "chairman."
The most "unsullied" of all the patriots is Denys Borysenko . However, he's nothing special. Apparently, he's the eyes and ears of another Dnipropetrovsk "patriot," Svyatoslav Oleynik. At least, it was as Oleynik's deputy that Borysenko ran for the Verkhovna Rada on the "Ukraine of the Future" party list. At the time, this party received eight-hundredths of the Ukrainian vote. Svyatoslav Oleynik is a former Dnipropetrovsk prosecutor and a former deputy from the BYuT. However, he was expelled from Yulia Tymoshenko's bloc in 2010 for voting in sync with the Party of Regions. He was also expelled, along with several other deputies who were part of the so-called "Andriy Portnov group" ( more about him in the article "Andriy Portnov: A Raider Story "). In short, he's a complex figure. Apparently, this is why they decided not to include him in the political council, putting forward in public the “young and handsome” ally Denis Borisenko.

Member of Parliament Andriy Denisenko also joined the UKROP political council. He is best known for the fact that his assistant shot and killed a Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officer, a fact Denisenko admitted to. This incident occurred this spring. Then-SBU head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko accused Denisenko, Svyatoslav Oliynyk, and Gennady Korban (note, all three are "patriots") of organizing smuggling in the ATO zone, kidnapping people, and complicity in the murder of SBU officer Dmytro Manzik in Volnovakha. According to Denisenko himself, the SBU officer was indeed killed by his assistant, Denis Gordeyev. Allegedly, an accident occurred during the detention of three trucks carrying contraband; someone pulled someone else's machine gun, resulting in a shot. The case is allegedly being handled by the Prosecutor General's Office, under the personal supervision of Viktor Shokin himself, but so far, the matter has not progressed beyond the arrest of the three "scapegoats." Andrey Denisenko himself called this investigation "an attack on his team." That's the kind of "fiery patriot" he is.

But let's talk about the most interesting "dills".
Igor Palytsia . A longtime associate of Igor Kolomoisky's at Privat. After a distinguished career in oil refining management, Igor Valerievich apparently decided that Palytsia could also effectively serve in the public service. Therefore, he promoted him to the leadership of Ukrnafta. It's worth remembering that this company is only 42% owned by the Privat Group; the state holds the majority stake. But Kolomoisky apparently decided that his control over the CEO was sufficient to control Ukrnafta entirely. And so, they were apparently satisfied with Igor Petrovich, as he was sent on to conquer the next political summits—this time, legislative ones.
Palytsia entered the Verkhovna Rada on the NU-NS list. However, while running for parliament as a member of the "most patriotic bloc," he publicly declared his willingness to cooperate with the Party of Regions. And, by the way, he did cooperate. At the very least, he certainly voted for the "Kharkiv Agreement," which resolved the issue of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence in Crimea. What this resulted in a few years later, we think, is needless to say. Furthermore, Igor Petrovich voted for the "language law," though the next day he changed his mind and began shouting that he hadn't voted because he was abroad. But Palytsia is hardly a systemic anti-Ukrainian. The fact is that, as a people's deputy, he primarily lobbied for his boss's oil and gas interests. And it's quite possible that the future "patriot's" votes were a simple "change" for some business preferences for the Privat Group.
In 2014, the same Kolomoisky, while head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, nominated Ihor Petrovich for the Odesa governorship. There, Palytsia took aim at his former friends from the Party of Regions. For example, he sent a letter to Prosecutor General Yarema accusing Serhiy Kivalov of separatism. The ORD website accused Ihor Palytsia of financing the separatists in the DPR and LPR. They even named the amount he transferred to the separatists – one million dollars monthly. Allegedly, this money was in exchange for the same oil and gas preferences in Russia and a share of Lukoil's assets. Be that as it may, on May 30, 2015, President Petro Poroshenko removed Palytsia and appointed Mikheil Saakashvili as Odesa governor.
Another equally interesting "ukrop" is Boris Filatov . Boris Albertovich is a lawyer, and he has featured so frequently in Privat's legal cases that the media has dubbed him the financial-industrial group's in-house lawyer. However, he has always denied this. However, his closeness to Kolomoisky is indicated by the fact that he served as the latter's deputy in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration.
In 2009, Dnipropetrovsk businessman Vyacheslav Braginsky was murdered. It was then that talk began of the Braginsky-Filatov-Korban-Axelrod raider group, including Slavutich-Capital, MSC Ukraine-Canada, and others. This "criminal quartet" was linked to the hostile takeover of such enterprises as the Dnipropetrovsk Large Tire Plant, ATZT Concern Vesna, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Municipal Enterprise Oblvodokanal, Prydniprovsk Construction Management CJSC, Energogidromekhanizatsiya Construction Company in Dnipro, Ukrainian Radio Systems CJSC (WELLCOM TM), the Ukraina Hotel and Shopping Mall, and others. Gennady Axelrod was also murdered later, in 2012.
The same group is linked to the showdown and murder of Max "Mad" Kurochkin's men, with whom the future "patriots" clashed over markets and other businesses in Dnipro. They are also linked to the seizure of property belonging to former Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko. Rumor has it that he ordered the assassination of Braginsky. It was Boris Filatov who filed a lawsuit in the Zhovtnevy District Court of Dnipropetrovsk to remove Pavlo Ivanovich from his parliamentary powers. Among the assets "squeezed" from Lazarenko, the group is said to own the Detsky Mir and TsUM stores, the Astoria-Luxe hotel, and the Evropeysky Hotel.
In the last elections, Boris Albertovich became a member of the Verkhovna Rada. On his Facebook page, he called for the hanging of Crimeans, as follows: "...And finally. No landings from the Maidan. No extremist statements. We must give the scum any promises, guarantees, and make any concessions. ...And hang them... We must hang them later."

And finally, the chairman. Gennady Olegovich Korban . Also a "fledgling" of Kolomoisky's nest. During Kolomoisky's governorship, he served as Igor Valerievich's chief of staff. Korban is called "the number one raider in Ukraine," and it seems he's flattered by this. Korban likes commissioned articles about him to begin with the words: "They call him the number one raider, but he prefers to call himself a 'conflict specialist.'" A good dozen articles about Gennady Olegovich begin with these words.
There were two attempts on Korban's life. At various times, he linked these attempts to either Kurochkin or Lazarenko. He and Boris Filatov had once aggressively "squeezed" the property of both of them, as described in detail above.
In December 2011, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Department for Combating Organized Crime opened a case against Korban titled "Agat." Gennady Olegovich responded by filing a complaint accusing the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office of attempting to pressure businessmen, accusing police officers of photographing his properties. He also leaked case materials, which he had somehow acquired, to the media. Well, the best defense is a good offense, such is the philosophy of the Privat group. Now, after Gennady Korban served as the Dnipropetrovsk governor's right-hand man, traces of this investigative investigation are likely no longer to be found.
At one time, Gennady Korban stated in an interview with UP: "Korban has never, does not, and does not intend to participate in the political life of the country, city, village, or anywhere." But this statement didn't stop him from settling in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, and when he and his boss were kicked out, he went on to lead a "small but very patriotic" party.

Speaking of the boss... Igor Valerievich himself apparently has no visible involvement in this party. But who would believe that at least four of his "junior partners" decided to create a political project without, well, his blessing, at the very least.

What else? For effect, they added to the UKROP political platform a hero of the ATO, a wounded soldier who miraculously survived, and now a volunteer, Yevhen Terekhov (call sign "Jackson"), whom Gennady Korban used to carry around with him back when he was running for the Rada from Chernihiv Oblast. And for effect, they added journalist Dmitry Simansky, who writes under the pseudonym "Dmytro Krikun," to the same platform. And anyway, you can't assemble an entire political council solely from criminals.
And instead of an epilogue... Wikipedia says that dill is a monotypic genus of short-lived annual herbaceous plants. How relevant is this to the party? Time will tell.
