Former Kyiv Oblast Governor Vira Ulyanchenko, who was placed on a wanted list by law enforcement yesterday, stated that she is in Kyiv and has not fled, according to the BBC.
Yushchenko's ally clarified that she has been in her Kyiv office on Shelkovichna Street since July 22, following her vacation. Ulyanchenko also stated that she communicates daily with the Prosecutor General's Office (GPU) and that neither she nor law enforcement agencies have any complaints against each other. The news that she was wanted came as a surprise to Ulyanchenko. The former governor noted that this information was a provocation ahead of the local elections.
However, Ulyanchenko declined to comment on the charges for which she was placed on the wanted list. She pleads not guilty and has described all her actions as head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration as lawful and legal.
As a reminder, earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had declared Vera Ulyanchenko wanted.
