On the eve of the New Year holidays, children from orphanages in Brovary received New Year's gifts in the form of ROSHEN candy boxes. They were told they were a gift from Mayor Igor Sapozhko.
This conclusion was drawn based on the personalized postcards attached to the orders. However, as it turned out, this was not the case.
The "No to Corruption!" movement discovered that the mayor of Brovary didn't personally purchase the gifts. The money was provided by sponsors. While there's certainly no criminal element involved, it certainly looks like an advertising campaign by the mayor.
A total of 5195 kits for preschool-aged children were distributed. The City Council confirmed that the mayor had not allocated any funds for these projects. This means the mayor outsourced the effort to promote himself. At least, that's how the "No to Corruption!" movement sees the situation. Sapozhko himself has not commented on the incident.
