The European Commission is shocked by MP Sergei Pashinsky's corporate raiding.

PashinskThe US and EU business community is shocked by the seizure of the Zhytomyr confectionery factory by Sergei Pashinsky (Read more: Serhiy Pashinsky: Thief, Raider, Fraudster, and MP). The biggest shock was that the raid was committed by a Ukrainian MP and with the support of ministers and government agencies.
Ihor Boyko, the owner of the Zhytomyr confectionery factory "Zhytomyrski Lasoshchi," which was seized by raiders and a US citizen, received a letter from the office of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. The head of the European Commission acknowledges the dangers of investing in Ukraine. The letter also notes that the EU expects the Ukrainian government to protect foreign investors, as well as small and medium-sized businesses.

The letter is the European community's response to the provocative criminal seizure of a confectionery factory in Zhytomyr and the illegal violation of the property rights of American investor Igor Boyko. European politicians were shocked by the story about the factory seizure, fabricated by American journalists.

As previously reported, People's Front MP Serhiy Pashinsky is accused of the hostile takeover of the Zhytomyr confectionery factory.

The European Commission's statement also states that exceptionally clear legal certainty in the country will help restore foreign investors' confidence in Ukraine. The Commission sees the creation of a favorable business climate as one of the key reform areas.

Judging by the American journalists' report, it will be extremely difficult to regain the trust of foreign investors due to the actions of Pashinsky and other officials.

As a reminder, in the past, Pashinsky's name regularly appeared in scandals related to attempts at corporate raiding.

In 2007, Sergei Pashinsky attempted to seize the Kharkiv Turboatom plant through a hostile takeover. Pashinsky's actions were linked to lobbying for the interests of Konstantin Grigorishin, a Russian oligarch with business interests in Ukraine.

His second attempt at a corporate takeover involved Ukrtatnafta. Serhiy Pashinsky, along with 50 "young men of strong build," attempted to seize the Kremenchuk Oil Refinery. They failed for one simple reason: the refinery was guarded by several units of internal troops that day, and Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan was at the refinery that day.

MP Pashinsky was also accused of embezzling petroleum products intended for the army. Investigators stated that the state suffered losses amounting to 250 million hryvnias.
