Since the afternoon, searches have been underway at Philip Morris Ukraine's Kyiv and Kharkiv offices, where production facilities are located, Apostrophe reports. The company has so far unofficially confirmed this information. According to sources, the investigation is related to Megapolis-Ukraine, a monopoly in the cigarette distribution market.
As a reminder, Megapolis's primary owner is Igor Kesaev, a Russian businessman who, in addition to this company, also owns a controlling stake in the Russian defense plant named after Degtyarev. According to market participants, Megapolis-Ukraine is linked to the "family of former President Yanukovych." Before this company's arrival in Ukraine, tobacco manufacturers had up to 30 distributors. It's worth noting that law enforcement agencies do not investigate other market participants.
