On October 1, in Irpen, Kyiv Oblast, the head of the territorial election commission for the early Irpen mayoral elections, scheduled for October 26, 2014, was assaulted. The head of the Irpen TEC, Oleksiy Gavrilenko, sustained bodily injuries, which were recorded at a medical facility.
He was physically coerced into signing a resignation letter, a gross violation of electoral law. Gavrilenko has now filed corresponding complaints with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Central Election Commission, demanding that his resignation be declared invalid, writes Glavred.
The brutal beating was organized by Yaroslav Mesyats, a candidate for People's Deputy of Ukraine in the 95th electoral district; Maryna Vlasyuk, a candidate for the post of Irpin mayor; and Oleksandr Yurakov, a candidate on the Radical Party list and head of the Kyiv regional headquarters of the RPL.
Irpen public organizations are asking Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to immediately instruct law enforcement agencies to launch an impartial investigation into the beating of Oleksiy Gavrilenko, to allow him to carry out his duties as head of the territorial election commission without risking his health and life, and to instruct the Central Election Commission to immediately review Oleksiy Gavrilenko's statement regarding the illegality of his resignation, as it was written under physical pressure.
Current Irpin City Council member Yaroslav Mesyats is running for the 95th district in the Kyiv region as a member of Lyashko's Radical Party. Previously, Mesyats was expelled from the UDAR party for his involvement in systematic land fraud in the Irpin region. Subsequently, law enforcement officers searched his home and found documents confirming his involvement in land fraud.
The legal support for the land fraud was fully coordinated by Yaroslav Mesyats' wife, Marina Vlasyuk, who is currently running for mayor of Irpen.
However, the Irpin community believes that the main person who ordered the beating of Oleksiy Gavrilenko was Oleksandr Yurakov, a candidate nominated by Lyashko's Radical Party. Yurakov had long been a member of the Party of Regions. In the Irpin region, he positioned himself as "Akhmetov's man."
Yurakov, Mesyats, and Vlasyuk, accompanied by "titushki," arrived at the Irpen Territorial Electoral Commission in an armored personnel carrier, which, for unknown reasons, has still not been transferred to the ATO.
