The Cabinet of Ministers leadership stated that the candidate proposed by Heletey is a representative of the “criminal government.”
On the evening of September 10, a Cabinet of Ministers meeting was held to consider candidates for senior Defense Ministry leadership positions, ZN.ua sources in the Cabinet reported.
According to the publication's sources, Ivan Rusnak, who previously held the post of deputy minister, was appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense during the meeting.
Meanwhile, problems arose with the appointment of a candidate for the post of Deputy Defense Ministry for the Disposal of Excess Property, Land Control, and International Military Cooperation. According to ZN.ua, Heletey nominated Volodymyr Omelyanchuk for the position. Omelyanchuk, who served as the Chief of Staff of the Defense Ministry under former Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel during Yanukovych's presidency, was nominated for the post.
According to the publication, the Cabinet of Ministers leadership decisively blocked Omelyanchuk's confirmation, declaring that "he is a representative of the criminal government that systematically stole the Ministry of Defense's property."
Thus, the issue of considering Omelyanchuk’s candidacy was removed from the agenda.
It should be noted that nominations of candidates for senior positions in the Ministry of Defense are pre-approved by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the President of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Heletey's deputy from the post of First Deputy Minister of Defense, Bohdan Butsu.
