Security Service of Ukraine officers exposed the deputy director of one of the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences for bribery, reports press office power department.

Law enforcement officials established that a doctor of technical sciences demanded money from a private entrepreneur. In exchange, he promised to rent out non-residential premises belonging to the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in one of the capital's central districts.

Law enforcement officers documented the official's receipt of the first installment of the advance and detained the defendant in his office while receiving the second installment of the illicit benefit. The businessman was then required to pay 50,000 hryvnias quarterly for the duration of the long-term lease agreement, which was concluded contrary to current legislation.

As part of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, searches are being conducted at the defendant's place of work in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv," the statement reads.
