In Mariupol, workers at Azovstalstroy have not been paid for nine months.

375207431On October 13, workers in Mariupol held a picket demanding payment for work to restore a backup railway line after a railway bridge was blown up, according to the website 0629.com.ua.

They blocked the railway line near the blown-up bridge at kilometer 1260 and demanded payment for their work. The picketers stated that they had not been paid for nine months.

According to the workers, the main problem was the paperwork required to carry out the work. Since the railway tracks were the main route connecting Azovstal's steel plants with the Mariupol port, Azovstalstroy workers restored them as quickly as possible. However, the design documentation for the work only appeared in June, even though work had begun in late December 2014.

The work continued around the clock, seven days a week, including holidays.

The workers claimed that Azovstalstroy management was shifting responsibility to Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, which had been handed over all paperwork and advised to contact Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest. However, the workers themselves are convinced that the delays are artificial and have promised to block traffic on the restored section of the railway and at the steelworks' entrances where coal is delivered.

Let us recall that the bridge was blown up in December last year.
