Today, May 3, journalist Serhiy Bandura and cameramen Oleksiy Stopin and Serhiy Bondarenko were attacked on Staroportofrankivska Street in Odessa. The attack occurred right outside the Channel Seven offices.
CCTV cameras recorded the attackers arriving in a blue Honda Accord with license plate number BN 41 52 HB. The attackers used non-lethal pistols and a pump-action shotgun. Sergei Bandur was hit by pellets, but his jacket saved him.
According to Channel Seven CEO Mikhail Malyshev, the attackers first called Dmitry Bondarenko outside for a conversation. After a few minutes of conversation, he was punched in the face. Afterward, one of the attackers pulled a pump-action shotgun from his car.
The cameraman's colleagues, who were nearby, intervened in the altercation. All of them are now hospitalized with broken noses, concussions, and back and head injuries.
The owner of the Honda has been identified as Evgeny Savchenko, born in 1980, from Belgorod-Dnistrovskyi.
According to preliminary reports, the conflict stemmed from Dmitry Bondarenko's professional activities. Specifically, he recorded a report on a traffic accident.
