Ekaterina Rozhkova
The Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case against the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Kateryna Rozhkova, reports Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Kyiv Post.
Proceedings have also been opened against other NBU managers.
The charges brought by the OGP stemmed from the fact that the National Bank provided information to companies hired to investigate or assist in the nationalization of PrivatBank, in particular the forensic firm Kroll Inc., the consulting firm AlixPartners, and the law firms Hogan Lovells and Asters.
Let us recall that back then, in 2016, an investigation was conducted and PrivatBank was nationalized in 2016 on charges of treason and embezzlement.
"As reported, on December 18, 2016, the Ukrainian government, citing a proposal from the NBU and former shareholders of PrivatBank, the largest of whom at the time were Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov, decided to nationalize this largest financial institution on the Ukrainian market and injected over UAH 155 billion into its capital.
In November 2019, Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka transferred to the NABU a case concerning the withdrawal of multi-billion dollar funds from PrivatBank prior to its nationalization.
The bank's former owners consider the nationalization, which resulted in them losing all their shares, illegal, while PrivatBank and the state are demanding additional compensation from them," Interfax-Ukraine writes.
Ранее Skelet.Org reported that NABU will investigate possible abuses by Avakov and Gontareva.
