Officers from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained the deputy chief of one of the Kyiv district police departments, reports press office GBR.
Law enforcement officials discovered that a police officer was providing cover for restaurants that continued to operate during the quarantine.
The police officer's "services" cost between 5000 and 20000 hryvnias per week. In exchange, the official promised to turn a blind eye to quarantine violations at establishments.
He was detained while receiving 13,000 hryvnias in unlawful benefits. SBI investigators had previously documented his receipt of 25,000 hryvnias.


The police officer faces up to 10 years in prison, with disqualification from holding certain positions for up to 3 years, and confiscation of property.
