One of the leaders of the Opposition Bloc, Kryvyi Rih politician Oleksandr Vilkul, congratulated Sevilla FC on their victory in the Europa League final and stated that he has long been a fan of the Spanish club. At the same time, he believes Dnipro FC is not yet mature enough to compete in major football championships.
Dnipro fans reported this after meeting with Vilkul at the Narodowy stadium in Warsaw.
According to FC Dnipro fans, Vilkul reacted with joy and deep satisfaction to Sevilla's victory and Dnipro's 2-3 defeat.
"I have great respect for Sevilla and congratulate them on their victory, but Dnipro hasn't yet reached the level of victories that Shakhtar has," Oleksandr Vilkul told fans.
As previously reported, in the 2014/15 Europa League final, which took place on May 27 at the Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, Sevilla beat Dnipro 3-2.
The Dnipropetrovsk team took the lead in the seventh minute thanks to a precise strike from Nikola Kalinic. The Spaniards equalized in the 28th minute through Grzegorz Krychowiak. Three minutes later, Sevilla took the lead through Carlos Bacca. However, Ruslan Rotan equalized late in the first half. Bacca scored the winner for the Andalusian team in the 73rd minute, completing his second goal. Thus, Sevilla won the Europa League for the second time in a row.
Over 10,000 Dnipro fans from Ukraine watched the match at the Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw. Before the match, Dnipro fans marched through the Polish capital.
As is known, Oleksandr Vilkul is associated with Donetsk oligarch Renat Akhmetov, who owns FC Shakhtar.
