Odesa Regional Customs Head Vladislav Raksha, under pressure from MPs from Lyashko's Radical Party and public activists, resigned. He announced this on his social media page. Facebook People's Deputy from the Republic of Poland Lyashko Igor Mosiychuk.
The MP noted that he and his colleague Dmitry Linko, and with the support of local activists, secured the resignation of the "corrupt" head of the Odesa regional customs office, Vladislav Raksha. Mosiychuk stated that Mr. Raksha is the tenth head of the Odesa customs office in the past six months. His predecessors were also forced to resign under pressure from activists. According to the MP, despite the leadership change, corruption at the Odesa customs office remains elusive.
"Leaders change, but corruption schemes remain," the MP concluded.
Earlier, Odesa Oblast Governor Mikheil Saakashvili contacted the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Prosecutor General's Office (GPU), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) with a statement that the leadership of the Odesa Customs Office is suspected of committing crimes. According to Saakashvili, Odesa customs officials, acting in collusion, deliberately inflate prices at the Odesa customs office, which has led to the redistribution of traffic to other regional customs offices. The governor believes that such actions are causing losses and economic instability in the region.
It was also reported that Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced personnel changes in the structure of the State Fiscal Service and, in particular, the Odessa regional customs office on August 26, 2015.
