A COMMUNIACTION AROUND THE CITY PROSECUTOR'S CHAIR: IN KHARKIV, PICKETTERS DEMAND THAT POPOVICH BE RESIGNED
Today, September 15, a picket against Kharkiv City Prosecutor Yevhen Popovich is taking place outside the Kharkiv Prosecutor's Office, Glavnoye reports. The protesters are demanding the dismissal of the prosecutor, who has submitted a resignation letter. However, there is currently no information on whether the Prosecutor General's Office has signed it, and Popovich continues to serve in his current position.
The picketers are holding posters that read: “Ukraine without Yanukovych, Kharkiv without Popovych!”, “Kharkiv without pocket prosecutors!”, “Not resign, but throw him in the trash!” and “Yarema, sign!”
As the participants note, this is only a warning picket for now.
As previously reported by Prokurorskaya Pravda, Yevhen Popovich, who headed the Kharkiv Prosecutor's Office for over six years, submitted his resignation. The official website of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office published the Prosecutor General's Order No. 1279k, dated September 4, regarding Popovich's dismissal.
Later, the regional prosecutor's office press service stated that it was "a technical error" and that "the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office has no information about his dismissal." Popovich himself stated that his resignation letter from the prosecutor's office was not accepted.
