Europe may lift sanctions against several individuals close to former President Yanukovych, MP Serhiy Leshchenko announced.

"I'll be honest, a major disaster is brewing. I spoke with the ambassador of a Western country today. I said, 'I heard the European Union is planning to lift sanctions against three figures in Yanukovych's entourage.' To which the ambassador replied, 'I heard the list is limited to three.' I asked, 'Why is that?' He replied, 'We Europeans don't understand why there are no criminal proceedings against these people in Ukraine—is it due to a lack of evidence or political will? But we can't keep people under sanctions without justification,'" Leshchenko wrote on his Facebook page.

Consequently, the Prosecutor General's Office has not opened and does not plan to open criminal proceedings against former officials and members of parliament close to fugitive President Yanukovych. This refers to Ivanyushchenko, Yakimenko, and Azarov's son.

It was previously reported that there had already been talk in the new parliament about initiating the resignation of the Prosecutor General.
