Irpin City Council deputy Yaroslav Mesyats, who is running for the Verkhovna Rada in the 95th constituency, is wanted by law enforcement agencies nationwide.
Journalist Irina Fedoriv writes about this in her blog on Ukrainska Pravda.
"Following the high-profile events that took place on October 1st near the Irpen prosecutor's office, a criminal investigation has been opened," says Irpen city prosecutor Miroslav Patskan.
According to him, Mesyats is hiding from the pre-trial investigation.
"He is not registered at his address. He may be pressuring several witnesses who have not yet been questioned. The Irpen City Council deputy may also destroy or hide important documents," the prosecutor notes.
According to eyewitnesses, a candidate for parliament opened fire near the prosecutor's office on October 1.
Yaroslav Mesyats, who is wanted by law enforcement, has been charged with criminal offenses under Articles 296, Part 4, and 341 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These offenses carry penalties of up to seven years in prison.
