On the morning of June 18, tax authorities began conducting a search of the office of the holding company's management company, Vesti.
"A group of people claiming to be tax police, without presenting any documents, broke down the doors and stormed the office of the Vesti holding company, located in the Gulliver business center. The premises are currently completely blocked. The intruders are not allowing the holding company's lawyers, attorneys, or other employees inside," the publication's website reported.
The tax authorities are not showing the court order on the basis of which the search is being conducted, only stating that these are court orders in the case of Vesti Mass Media LLC.
A similar search was conducted approximately a year ago. At that time, Vesti Mass Media LLC was involved in a criminal case related to tax evasion and money laundering.
According to employees, last year's and this year's searches are being carried out to intimidate the editorial staff.
"Vesti Holding declares that such actions are a direct act of government pressure on independent media outlets and emphasizes that, no matter what, we will continue our work and will not change our civic and journalistic position," Vesti Holding representatives officially stated.
