Rotation of Kryvyi Rih's "thief in law": How Prosecutor Prikhozhaninov Solved the "Sausage Case," Tried to Open His Mouth, and Received an Honorable Exile
By order of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine dated November 20, 2014, Yuriy Mykolayovych Novikov was appointed Prosecutor of the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. According to the regional prosecutor's office website, Novikov has 10 years of experience in the Prosecutor General's Office.
At the same time, Novikov's predecessor as the prosecutor of Kryvyi Rih, Valery Aleksandrovich Prikhozhaninov, who has over 15 years of experience in the prosecutor's office, was appointed acting head of the department for supervision of compliance with laws in criminal proceedings of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor's office by order of Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema.
Prikhozhaninov's transfer to his new position occurred several days after a corruption scheme involving the embezzlement of public funds was uncovered in Kryvyi Rih. As reported by Perviy Kryvyi Rih, prosecutors discovered that the director of an LLC, along with Deputy Mayor Yuriy Vilkul and the head of the city executive committee's education department, were manufacturing and supplying counterfeit sausage products to public educational institutions in Kryvyi Rih.
On Wednesday, November 19, Kryvyi Rih Prosecutor Valery Prikhozhanov was scheduled to hold a press conference on this matter at the city prosecutor's office. The press conference was initially rescheduled for Thursday, November 20, and then cancelled altogether. This was followed by personnel changes at the city prosecutor's office.
At the same time, photographs of the very same "sausage factory" have been published on the official website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
