Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service, Oleg Averyanov, is illegally engaged in business activities, lawyer Anton Kuts stated at a press conference at the Ukrinform news agency. Specifically, the official owns a stake in Ukraine's only fire engine manufacturer, Pozhezhspetsmash, which is currently pledged to Prominvestbank, which is in turn controlled by Russia's Vnesheconombank.
According to the lawyer, legal proceedings are already underway in the Pechersk Court, and there is a danger that in the coming months, this unique state asset could end up in the hands of businessmen close to the Russian leadership.
The ex-wife of official Yevgeny Averyanov claims that Averyanov, on a salary of four thousand hryvnias, affords himself trips to Munich for beer festivals, shopping in Milan, and two-week stays in Israel in $500-per-night hotels, as well as owning cars worth millions of hryvnias. Yevgenia Averyanov accused her ex-husband of document forgery, which resulted in her property being confiscated, and that the courts are currently trying to seize her children. She also alleged threats and pressure from Averyanov against her and her family.
Lawyer Vladimir Yurchenko presented evidence confirming document forgery and the involvement of Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service Averyanov. The lawyer asserts that three criminal investigations were opened based on Evgeniya Averyanov's complaints, but under pressure from her ex-husband, all of them were redirected to Priluki and closed there. The lawyer is convinced that Averyanov, using his official position and connections, influences court decisions and police actions.
According to expert Konstantin Chernenko, in the Chernihiv region, particularly in the city of Pryluky, there is a complete fusion of oligarchic-criminal structures with law enforcement officials. This is evident in the pressure exerted by the police, and specifically by the head of the Pryluky police, Ruslan Krakhmilts, on local entrepreneurs. According to the activist, it was Krakhmilts who led and personally participated in illegal detentions and searches, as well as in the planting of grenades on the relatives of local businessmen. Chernenko sees a direct connection between Krakhmilts' appointment as the head of the Pryluky police, the pressure on entrepreneurs, and the actual reprisal against his ex-wife by Oleg Averyanov.
Press conference participants appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs leadership, demanding that Ruslan Krakhmilts be dismissed from the police force. They are prepared to submit all documents to the newly created Anti-Corruption Bureau detailing abuse of office and violations of the law by Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service Averyanov.
