Avakov's deputies, Vasily Paskal and Vitaliy Sakal, should be purged.

lustrationThe Public Lustration Committee under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine published information on its website that Vasyl Paskal and Vitaliy Sakal, deputy ministers of internal affairs under Arsen Avakov, are illegally holding their positions. According to the lustration committee, a lawsuit regarding this matter has already been filed with the Kyiv District Administrative Court. The committee demands that the Cabinet of Ministers' inaction against these officials be declared illegal and that the Cabinet of Ministers be held accountable.

In this lawsuit, the committee seeks to compel the Cabinet of Ministers to dismiss Avakov's deputies, Vasyl Paskal and Vitaliy Sakal, since it is the Cabinet of Ministers' authority to dismiss deputy ministers of internal affairs.

As a reminder, Arsen Avakov's deputies, Vasyl Paskal and Vitaliy Sakal, worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2010 to 2014, making them subject to the Law of Ukraine "On the Purification of Government." The Lustration Committee notes that the Criminal Investigation Department, where Vasyl Paskal previously worked, persecuted Euromaidan activists. The committee believes this department is involved in the murder of Lviv activist Yuriy Verbytskyi and the torture of Automaidan activist Ihor Lutsenko.
