Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's order, dated December 24 and published on the government website, announced that Roman Chuprynenko has been appointed Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine for European Integration.
During the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, Roman Chuprinenko held the position of director of the Department for Ensuring the Activities of Finance Minister Yuriy Kolobov.
As previously reported by Ukrainska Pravda, from January 15-20, 2013, former Deputy Prime Minister Arbuzov, former Finance Minister Kolobov, and Chuprinenko spent five days in San Francisco (USA) at public expense "for meetings with the leadership of international financial institutions." Their "business trip" cost UAH 189,181.80. Ukreximbank CEO Mykola Udovychenko also traveled to the US with the former officials, but his expenses were financed by JSC Ukreximbank.
Later, in February 2013, Mr. Udovychenko took over as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine. He was dismissed from his post only in mid-2014, after members of the Yanukovych "family" fled to Russia. However, after the Euromaidan Revolution, Roman Chuprynenko retained his position in the Ministry of Finance, which was then headed by Oleksandr Shlapak. With the arrival of the new Minister of Finance, Natalia Yaresko, Chuprynenko was transferred to the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities.
According to his income declaration posted on the Cabinet of Ministers website, Roman Chuprynenko earned 340,000 hryvnias in income in 2013. His salary amounted to 166,805 hryvnias, dividends (interest) amounted to 18,000 hryvnias, and financial assistance amounted to 26,000 hryvnias.
Chuprynenko's other income totaled 128,299 hryvnias. His family's income totaled 76,200 hryvnias. The deputy minister's family owns a residential building (325 square meters) and other real estate (490 square meters). They also own an expensive 2007 Porsche Cayenne. Chuprynenko also has 149,000 hryvnias in bank accounts and other financial institutions. The family has approximately 200,000 hryvnias in their accounts.
