The wife of the "diamond" prosecutor Korniets, Svetlana Korniets, who works as a prosecutor in the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, can afford to spend 4,5 euros in one day in Paris and stay in a luxury hotel for 1077 euros per room per night.
Sergei Ivanov writes about this in his blog on Censor.NET.

He notes: "This is an excerpt from a report on the movement of funds on the card account of our hero's wife, Svetlana Korniets, who, despite everything, continues to serve the state as the head of the department for overseeing compliance with laws by agencies that combat organized crime, procedural guidance, and supporting the state prosecution of the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office."

"During the period covered by the following document, Svetlana Valerievna held a modest position as a prosecutor in the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, which, however, did not prevent her from occasionally immersing herself in the alluring and depraved world of Parisian luxury. The following bank statement shows that on just one day, May 5, 2008 (a Monday, by the way), the diamond prosecutor's wife spent 4449,75 euros while in the French capital," Ivanov notes.

The blogger writes: "The department's prosecutor didn't stay just anywhere, but at the 5-star Le Meurice Hotel, where nightly rates now start at €1000. As we can see from the printout, the price back then was almost the same—€1077."

The hotel looks good. From the outside,

Fashion brand connoisseurs will likely find familiar words in the verses I've underlined in the report. Personally, I see only one familiar phrase: Louis Vouitton, where Svetlana spent over a thousand euros in just two visits."

"Comment is unnecessary here. People who live modestly don't stay in hotels with a view of the Eiffel Tower, 600 meters from the Louvre. And they certainly don't spend that kind of money in Parisian boutiques. Therefore, it seems to me that Mr. Korniets should permanently remove the word "modesty" from his vocabulary—at least until the gates of a correctional labor facility are hospitably opened to him.

To forestall the tales that Sveta dreamed of seeing Paris from birth and saved the money her parents gave her for school lunches, I'd like to draw your attention to the bottom stanza, which states that on May 19, 2008, someone used her card to purchase 2156 hryvnias at the Furshet supermarket in the Mandarin Plaza shopping center. At the 2008 exchange rate, that's approximately $260. Someone simply went grocery shopping and spent $260 in one go.

“I believe the question of the Korniets family’s modesty can be considered closed,” Ivanov concludes.
