Zaporizhzhia City Prosecutor's Office No. 2 has initiated criminal proceedings against officials of the Zaporizhstal Steel Works. They are suspected of official negligence, reports Insider.
According to Vladislav Kutsenko, a prosecutor with the Prosecutor General's Office, the company's management is suspected of failing to pay the share participation fee for the development of Zaporizhzhia's engineering, transport, and social infrastructure. The amount amounted to 150 million hryvnias.
Kutsenko noted that the prosecutor's office's primary objective is to compensate for damages. Law enforcement officials also stated that they suspect not only Zaporizhstal's management but also the city's mayor, Volodymyr Buryak.
It's important to note that Zaporizhstal is part of the Metinvest Group, whose main shareholders are Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Group (71,25%) and Vadym Novinsky's Smart Holding Group (23,75%). It has not been announced whether the Ukrainian oligarchs will be questioned on this matter.
