Recently, information leaked to the press that Constitutional Court Chairman Yuriy Baulin had initiated a process to lift lustration for officials who served under the Yanukovych regime. This scandalous fact outraged many, including former head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valentyn Nalyvaichenko. A year ago, Nalyvaichenko, it turned out, had handed the Prosecutor General (at that time Viktor Shokin) a letter demanding that a notice of suspicion be filed against Mr. Baulin. In the letter, he also stated that he had a full package of evidence proving his guilt on the charge of "abuse of office" (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The issue at hand was the unauthorized repeal of the Constitutional Reform of 2004: this very act, according to Nalyvaichenko, served as the trigger for the unconstitutional coup. Mr. Nalyvaichenko is most outraged by the fact that Baulin not only hasn't resigned from his post since working for the corrupt government, but continues to act in its interests, betraying the interests of the country and ordinary citizens.

"If Baulin had been placed on suspicion a year ago, he wouldn't have stopped the lustration today!" Nalyvaichenko said.
