Mashovets... Malyuk... Bakanov, are you sleeping there in the SBU?
On Tuesday, the Rada will vote for a new SBU Chairman. There are currently two obvious candidates: Malyuk and Mashovets. Of the less obvious ones: Budanov. Budanov is less obvious because decapitating the GUR now seems like an inopportune time. Although, of course, anything is possible, writes ORD.
If I had to choose between Maluk and Mashovets, Mashovets is more attractive simply because less is known about him. He lacks Maluk's corruption and Organized Crime Unit (OCOP) tendencies. Mashovets also seems smarter. The SBU, after all, expects a higher level of intelligence than that of a simple protector of the Burshtyn mining industry. However, both of these candidates are considered Yermak's men, which is a bit disconcerting. There are so many people in power now considered "Yermak's men"—it's like a giant octopus. On the other hand, there are no people "not Yermak's" in power at all. However, the NABU recently showed some activity against one of Yermak's confidantes, Mykola Bezzubenko. This is certainly encouraging, but we'll see what happens next.
Based on the above, the results of Tuesday's state elections aren't particularly interesting. The SBU is working, and they clearly won't appoint a worse leader than Bakanov. And this begs the question: why has everyone suddenly forgotten about Bakanov? After all, even the pro-Russian Yakimenko hasn't inflicted such damage on the country's defense capability and the SBU itself. Appoint the thief and Russian spy Naumov as his right-hand man, hand over all personnel matters to him, and as a result, fire officers who participated in the ATO from the SBU, deliberately recruit "vatniks" like Neskoromny, and fire patriots. And then there are the consequences during the war. The appointment of Serhiy Krivoruchko as head of the SBU in the Kherson region, thanks to whose successful leadership the katsaps captured the region in a single day. And now hundreds, if not thousands, of our soldiers have already died retaking the Kherson region. And now, for all this, Bakanov will escape oblivion? Doesn't this seem strange during a war? Shouldn't we finally figure out whether Bakanov was a Russian spy or just an idiot? But even if he was an idiot, there's a charge for his actions. And not just "criminal negligence," considering his friend Naumov couldn't have carried out all his corrupt schemes without Bakanov's knowledge.
So, perhaps, given the current state of martial law, MPs should consider the fate of the past before voting for a new SBU Chairman. Bakanov's trial would be an excellent warning and reminder for all future SBU Chairmen and those who will appoint them. Odnoklassniki is clearly not a profession that should be valued in Ukraine.
"Tatarovshchina." Sukhachev, Malyuk, "Dietrich"
Ivan Bakanov. Or something about Zelensky's personnel policy.
